    Dallas native, Lauren Sand, MD, is a board eligible neurosurgeon who practices at the Methodist Moody Brain and Spine Institute on the campuses of Methodist Richardson Medical Center Methodist Dallas Medical Center. She is the only female, Ivy League educated neurosurgeon in the Dallas Area. Dr. Sand grew up in Dallas attending Ursuline Academy and attended the University of Pennsylvania for her undergraduate degree. She then earned her medical degree at Louisiana State University. Dr. Sand served as Chief Resident during her Residency in Neurological Surgery through the University of Minnesota, where she also pursued specialized training through a Fellowship in Neurointensive Care.

    Dr. Sand specializes in caring for critically ill neurosurgical patients facing traumatic spine and cranial injuries, as well as treating degenerative conditions of the spine with both minimally invasive and open surgical techniques. Dr. Sand also treats complex spinal deformities, neurological pain disorders, brain and spine tumors and hemorrhages, chiari malformations and hydrocephalus. She enjoys how her specialization in neurosurgery allows her the unique ability to care for both critically ill patients in the ICU, as well as otherwise healthy patients seeking surgical treatment in her practice.

    Outside of work, Dr. Sand enjoys skiing, running, playing piano, and spending time with family.
